Michael Kopech Has Knee Surgery, White Sox Recall Yohan Ramirez

Kopech battled command all season as he walked an MLB-leading 91 batters. The 27-year-old pitched to a 5-12 record and 5.43 ERA with 9.3 K/9 against 6.3 BB/9 in 129.1 innings.

A tumultuous second half of the season resulted in a move to the bullpen, where he made three appearances. Kopech's struggles continued in a relief role as he allowed at least one run in each outing.

Now, the Texas native will look to regroup in the offseason and rejoin the rotation in 2024. Kopech is expected to fully recover in 6-8 weeks.

Yohan Ramirez Gets the Call

Ramirez joins the White Sox for the first time since being claimed off waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates on Sept. 5.

The 28-year-old has 120 innings of MLB experience under his belt since debuting with the Seattle Mariners in 2020. At the big-league level, he owns a respectable 3.83 ERA and 1.325 WHIP.

Ramirez appeared in 26 games for the Pirates earlier this season, posting a 3.67 ERA across 34.1 innings. Since joining the White Sox' Triple-A squad, he has pitched to a 7.71 ERA in a small 4.2-inning sample size.
