Myles Garrett's 2023 Award Collection Begins at The Greater Cleveland Sports Awards

Every year, the Greater Cleveland Sports Commission hosts one of the most impactful nights in the sporting landscape for Northeast Ohio. At the event, they honor athletes young and old for their accomplishments on the field or court.

These awards span from high school athletes to professional athletes. The event brings the entire city together to honor the greatness of the area.

On Wednesday Night the Cleveland Sports Awards took center stage at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse, hosted by ESPN's Holly Rowe. The final award of the night was the Cleveland Athlete of the Year and the race wasn't particularly close.

The winner of the award was Cleveland Brown's defensive end Myles Garrett

Garrett's 2023/24 season was one of his best. He got off to a blistering start with 13 sacks in the first ten games of the season. A late-season injury caused his production to suffer, but his impact never did.

Week after week Garrett was the focal point of the opposing team's offense. The clip that stands out amongst the rest is in Week 3 against Tennessee when Garrett "motioned" back and forth and two tight ends followed him back and forth.

Garrett proved that he is the most impactful player in the NFL, and he was rewarded for it on Wednesday night.

Outside of what Garrett accomplished in the 2023 season, he has become the heart of the Browns and the heart of Cleveland. Since he was drafted in 2017, he has bought into this city more than any other athlete has.

He has experienced an 0-16 rookie season, many other disappointing seasons, two playoff appearances and only one playoff victory. He has had four different head coaches and experienced more adversity in his six seasons than many have in their careers.

He has never flinched for this team and for this city.

Garrett's offseason is going to be littered with awards but it got started in the right place, right at home at the Cleveland Sports Awards.
